JELL-O Dive On In Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 package (2-layer size) yellow cake mix
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 packages (4-serving size each) JELL-O Berry Blue Flavor Gelatin
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 tub (8 ounces) Cool Whip whipped topping, thawed
  • 56 mini Oreo bite size chocolate sandwich cookies
  • 6 Teddy Grahams snacks
  • 5 ring-shaped chewy fruit snacks
  • 4 bite-size fish-shaped chewy fruit snacks
  • 1 small rectangular Honey Maid graham crackers

Directions

  1. Prepare and bake cake mix in 13x9 inch baking pan as directed on package, then cool completely
    • 1 package yellow cake mix
  2. Invert cake onto large platter and remove pan
  3. Using a serrated knife, cut and scoop out a shallow rectangle from center of cake, leaving a 2-inch border of cake on all sides and a thin layer of cake on the bottom (cutting out the pool)
  4. Reserve removed cake for snacking or other use
  5. Stir boiling water into dry gelatin mix in a large bowl for at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved
    • 2 cups boiling water
    • 2 packages (4-serving size each) JELL-O Berry Blue Flavor Gelatin
  6. Stir in 1 cup of cold water
  7. Refrigerate for 1 ΒΌ hours or until slightly thickened (consistency of unbeaten egg whites) (Or see shortcut)
  8. Pour thickened gelatin into center of cake
  9. Refrigerate 3 hours or until set
  10. Frost borders of cake with whipped topping
  11. Decorate with remaining fruit snack and graham cracker as desired to resemble a swimming pool

Shortcut

  1. For a quick-set gelatin, simply add 4 cups ice cubes to the dissolved gelatin mixture in place of the 1 cup cold water
  2. Stir 8 minutes or until gelatin begins to thicken (spoon drawn through leaves a definite impression)
  3. Remove any unmeted ice
  4. Pour thickened gelatin into center of cake
  5. Continue as directed above
