Ingredients
Ice cream
- 1 ¾ cups heavy cream
- ¾ cup sugar
- ⅛ teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract or 1 vanilla bean split in half lengthwise
- 1 ¼ cup whole milk
- (optional) 2 cups of add-ins
Tools
- Small sauce pan
- Mixing bowl
- Ice cream maker
Directions
- If your ice cream maker needs any preparation do this before starting. Mine requires the center to be frozen for a day.
- Pour 1 cup of the heavy cream into the sauce pan and add ¾ cup of sugar and ⅛ teaspoon of salt.
- (optional) Scrape the vanilla beans into the pot and then add the vanilla pod
- Warm the mixture over medium heat, just until the sugar dissolves then immediately remove from heat.
- Pour the warm mixture into the mixing bowl and add the following ingredients:
- heavy cream (¾ cup)
- whole milk (1 ¼ cup)
- vanilla extract (1 tablespoon)
- Stir to combine
- Chill in the refrigerator about 20 minutes
- Remove vanilla pod
- Pour into ice cream maker and follow instructions for use of your machine.
- Add the add-ins towards the end of your ice cream makers process so that they don’t get overly dissolved into the ice cream.
